Selling your home can be a huge decision that oftentimes brings many stressors with it. There are many different keys that are involved in a successful, and profitable, home sale, however one that is often seen by potential buyers the most is the cleanliness and upkeep of the home. While there are areas of our home that may be a part of our routine cleaning such as wiping down the kitchen counters, cleaning toilets, and vacuuming, there are areas within all homes that oftentimes get overlooked and thus could be viewed as dirty or poorly kept by potential buyers.
Baseboards
When was the last time you cleaned your baseboards, most likely quite a while ago? If this is the case, make sure to wipe down the boards of any scuffs, dirt and debris as this will help brighten up the whole area and appear cleaner and well kept.
Windowsills
Windowsills are notorious for housing mold and mildew especially in cooler wet climates. Any type of visible mold is a huge red flag so be sure to pay extra attention to your windowsills and wipe them out/clean them well prior to listing and showing your home.

Kitchen Appliances
If you’re still living within your home while you are selling, make sure that your fridge, oven, microwave, etc. are all clean. There shouldn’t be aby form of crumbs or food within the appliances, this includes the bottom of the oven, microwave plate, etc. Be sure to give them a deep clean prior to selling and try to keep them as organized as possible.
Ceiling Fans
The tops of ceiling fans generally house large amounts of dust. In some instances, it is visible and in others, a buyer may turn the fan on, and the dust could spew in all directions. Either way, a quick dusting can help eliminate both problems.
Corners
Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming are all essential, however oftentimes you may not fully reach the corners of your rooms. Try to focus on corners to ensure that the whole space is clean, especially on lighter flooring such as light tile or hardwoods as any dirt or debris would be more visible if not cleaned.
