Smith Lake is a small lake located in northern Camano Island just outside of Livingston Bay. It’s nestled northeast of the Camaloch Association Golf Course off of NE. Camano Dr. There’s one entrance on McElroy Drive just north of the golf course. While there are several smaller residential neighborhoods in this area, there are only 41 lots around the small Smith Lake. Several of these lots have constructed homes and several still have homes yet to be built.

Currently, architects Northwest and Rayburn Homes have been building new construction properties around Smith Lake as in the image shown. Existing homes were built from the mid-1970s up until today. Homeowner association fees are approximately $100 per month depending on the lot and size. These figures can change so be sure to check with current listings on exact prices for association dues and fees.

Residents in this area have access to the community swimming pool, golf, and clubhouse located towards Camano Drive. The Camano Plaza, on the corner of McElroy Drive in NE. Camano Dr. has the entrance to the golf course, the Camano Island Chamber of Commerce, Island Cat, and IGA, Camano Thai food, and Camano Island coffee. Public 282 is also at this intersection with their slogan “Another reason not to leave the island.”

This is a great location at 370 Northeast Camano Dr. for residents, locals, and visitors alike. With their large outdoor seating area and in settable fireplace, it’s a great meeting place to grab a beer, dinner, or chat with the locals. They have happy hour and daily specials with about a dozen beers on tap at any given time, both local brews and your old tried-and-true favorites. Whether you’re coming in for nachos or their delicious bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers or staying for dinner with some delicious fish and chips or their famous Pub 28 to Burger, there’s always good times and good food at Pub 282.

“This is my favorite pub on the Island… Good food (take out available), outdoor seating available, & of course all the wine, beer & liquor to take care of a thirsty patron. They have lots of TVs for to watch the game. They have live music, trivia contests… Food specials & the BEST GARLIC fries I have ever had!!!”

Schools

Residents are part of the Camano Island/Stanwood school district and attend the Utsalady elementary school about a half a mile away, the Port Susan middle school, and the Stanwood high school. The middle school and high school are about 8 1/2 miles away but students can ride the bus, which picks up at the corner of McElroy Drive.
